Your Initial Appointment at About Smiles

If you’ve never visited us before and are wondering what an initial appointment at About Smiles will involve, take a moment to discover exactly what will happen on the day. If you are visiting our centre for the first time, take advantage of our new patient offer! This offer includes a comprehensive examination, dental x-rays and regular oral hygiene treatment. Please mention this offer at the time of booking.

New Patient Welcome Package $280 (Valued at $345)

About Smiles is a positive dentist dedicated to courteous and quality dental treatment. We promise to treat you with consideration, respect and genuine care for your wellbeing. In an initial consultation we spend up to an hour performing a thorough examination that includes:

  • A discussion about your dental history and relevant medical history
  • Understanding your concerns and any specific needs
  • Assessing your joints, jaw musculature and bite
  • Performing an oral cancer screening
  • Performing dental hygiene treatment and/or assess potential periodontal issues
  • Taking digital X-rays to identify issues below the gum-line or within the teeth structure (if you have any prior X-rays performed within the previous 6 months, please bring these with you)
  • Taking clinical photographs of your smile line, teeth and gum
  • At the end of the assessment we’ll discuss your overall oral health, bring up any issues with your mouth or jaw identified during the examination and address any specific concerns you may have. If you are interested in improving your smile and/or fixing existing problems, we will also present your further treatment options.
All private health funds welcome! If you have private health fund cover, please bring your health fund card to your appointment and we will make a claim for you on the spot!
What the package does not cover: Treatment for periodontal disease or emergencies are not part of the offer. If you do not see a dentist every 6 months, or suffer from periodontal disease, subsequent visits may be required to get your oral hygiene back on track. Additional cost for periodontal treatment ranges between $250 and $350 per session. Speak to our team for full T's & C's.

 

Straightforward Treatment Plans

Our consultations aren’t sales pitches and they don’t result in complex treatment plans. They are simply about your wellbeing and providing the best dental care advice we can. For any issues identified during the consultation we will provide a detailed treatment plan, which will include:

  • The urgency of any issues
  • Your options to resolve or correct issues
  • The pricing of any treatment or options
  • And, if you have complex issues, we’ll follow up with a detailed letter

Options for Sleep Dentistry and Sedation

Your initial appointment should not require any sedation options, but for any issues highlighted in the consultation please know that we have a comprehensive range of sedation options. So if you have any fears or worries about subsequent treatment, rest easy knowing that not only is About Smiles highly qualified, we offer great pain management options, too.
